Visit PNHP for information on how you can become involved in changing health care in America. You need not be a physician to join Physicians for a National Health Program. Anyone interested in improving health care delivery in the United States is welcome.

Welcome to Mountain State PNHP

The purpose of the Mountain State Chapter of Physicians for a National Health Program is to encourge the establishment of a single-payer health care system in the United States and particularly for West Virginia families. Be sure to visit PNHP's website for in-depth information about single-payer health care. They provided this information about the Mountain State:
  • In 2005, 1 in 10 West Virginians lacked health insurance (322,000).

  • Illness and injury contributed to 11,200 bankruptcies in West Virginia in 2004. Of those who bankrupted, 75 percent had insurance when they got sick.

  • In 2003, West Virginia wasted an estimated $1.9 billion in needless administration, or $8,286 per uninsured resident that year – enough to provide high quality coverage to every Mountain State resident.
We hope that you are visiting because you're concerned about the state of health care in West Virginia, and are prepared to help do something to effect a change in policy.
